Evergreen Home for Special Care Family and Friends,
Evergreen continues to strictly follow directives from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Department of Health and Wellness and Public Health in relation to COVID-19. The safety of residents and staff is the top priority of Evergreen and we continue to make adjustments to our daily practices and pandemic plan.
As of today, May 22, there are no positive cases of COVID-19 at Evergreen Home for Special Care among residents or staff.
-
Both the Senior Centre and Children Centre have thorough and detailed plans in the event that we have resident(s) who test positive for COVID-19. Plans developed with all required directives from Public Health.
-
Evergreen continues to actively screen residents and staff for signs and symptoms. Daily communication with Public Health.
-
Extra cleaning of high touch areas throughout the facility.
-
As a balance between safety restrictions and resident well-being, we have implemented new protocols that will allow residents to be outside in the garden space to enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air!
-
Following social distancing, in groups of no more than 5 (including accompanying staff).
-
Residents will not be permitted to go outside without staff members at this time.
-
Both the staff and resident (if able) will wear a mask and proper hand washing when re-entering the facility.
-
For resident safety, family/friends must not come into the garden area (unless for a scheduled Window Visit).
-
We will work to ensure residents are not out for a walk when Window Visits are scheduled, we ask that you also respect this by not coming into the garden during unscheduled times.
-
Recreation and Chaplain continue with 1:1 visits and small scale programming, respecting social distancing, 5 person limit of groups, and limiting equipment use that could spread germs. There is still a lot of music radiating throughout Evergreen!
-
Hiring of temporary recreation staff to assist in small group programming and 1:1 visits.
-
We have received new iPad's from the Nova Scotia Health Authority and will be continuing with scheduled video calls between residents and family/friends. Available platforms for video calls are Skype, Messenger and Zoom (we are no longer using Facetime).
-
Call Window Visits and Video calls must be scheduled in advance to ensure staff availability and resident safety.
